Astra 2/2026: Conflict
The summer issue is here! The theme is conflict, a word that makes many people recoil. Astra invites the reader to take a closer look at why – and to become curious about what happens when we invite conflict into our lives. What encounters arise? What needs are expressed? What alternatives are there? And what do your inner conflicts look like?
Anaïs Duong-Pedica tells us about when the Turku Palestine group read bell hooks and Sarah Schulman so that the internal conflicts would not overshadow the group’s common goals. Elina Sagne-Ollikainen reflects on the role of theater in promoting minority rights and Lejla Cato gives us a breakneck essay on the interplay of internal and external conflicts.
Vian Sadwand and Rana Kadry contribute newly written poems, while our trusted staff of critics has tackled feminist satire, the new film adaptation of Wuthering Heights , Monika Fagerholm’s highly acclaimed latest novel, and Lizette Romero Niknami’s poignant new poetry collection. Plus a great series special by Alva Skog !
The issue is available in stores in both Finland and Sweden. You can find our retailers here , and you can also order a printed or digital copy directly.
If your local library or bookstore doesn’t have Astra, ask them to contact us at [email protected] and we’ll arrange it!
