Välkomna att delta i Astra 4/2020, som har tema ”Migration”!

Temat sattes tidigt i våras, i syfte att lyfta röster från och forskning kring asyl och exil, migration och ”integration” i främst Finland men också på andra platser, ur en feministisk synvinkel.

Vi efterlyser bidrag från dig som vill skriva om migration – det kan handla om allt från asylsökningsprocesser, flykt eller exil, till gränser, språk, tillhörighet och längtan. Eller kanske du vill skriva om en bok, film eller utställning som berör migration och borde lyftas? Skriv till oss och berätta!

Vi söker främst efter dig som skriver utifrån egna erfarenheter, men tar även emot bidrag från dig som forskar inom området. Om det språk du föredrar att skriva på inte är svenska och du vill ha en översättning, hör av dig så försöker vi ordna en! Vi samarbetar med Reportrar utan gränsers Kollega-till-kollega-projekt, som sammanför skribenter och översättare.

Skicka din idé på text eller illustration till [email protected] senast den 6 september. Glöm inte att bifoga ett utkast till texten, en skiss, portfolio eller liknande i mejlet där du beskriver din idé! Vi tar emot texter ur alla genres och arvoderar alla medverkande skribenter och illustratörer.

Obs: Tidigare öppnade vi upp numrets tema till att också inkludera texter som specifikt berör anti-svart rasism, i ljuset av #BlackLivesMatter-rörelsen. Vi har emellertid tagit emot välgrundad kritik mot att klämma ihop migration, rasism och #BLM i ett och samma nummer. Även om dessa teman är relaterade till varandra förtjänar de mer utrymme än ett enda nummer. Vi tackar för kritiken och rättar oss efter den! Om du redan nu vill skriva om anti-svart rasism i Norden, om #BlackLivesMatter eller om rasism, kopplat till migration eller ej, hör av dig till oss ändå! Vi diskuterar gärna publicering antingen på webben eller i kommande tryckta nummer av Astra under 2021.

Welcome to send submissions for Astra 4/2020, on the theme ”Migration”!

We decided on the theme early this spring, to raise voices and research regarding asylum and exile, migration and ”integration” in Finland and other places, from a feminist perspective.

We’re looking for you who want to write about migration, be it about seeking asylum, being in exile, about borders, languages, belonging or longing… Or maybe you want to write about a book, film or exhibition that touches about these themes? Write and tell us!

While we will prioritize the submissions that are based on personal experiences of migration, we also welcome contributions about the experiences of families as well as research-based texts. If you prefer to write in a language other than Swedish and want a translation, write to us and we’ll try to fix one! We’re cooperating with Reporters Without Borders’ Colleague-to-colleague project that brings together writers and translators.

Send us your idea for text or illustration to [email protected] the 6th of September at the latest. Don’t forget to attach a draft! We accept texts in all genres and we’re paying all participants in the magazine.

Note: Earlier on, we opened up this issue of Astra to also include texts on anti-blackness and racism, in light of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. We have since received well-founded critique for squeezing together migration, racism and #BLM in the same issue. Although they are connected, they deserve to be given more space than a single issue. We’re grateful for the critique and comply with it. If you want to write about anti-black racism, racism in the Nordics or about #BlackLivesMatter, in relation to migration or not, please get in touch and send us your texts! We can discuss a publication online or in the upcoming 2021 print issues.
